From March 28-31, leaders across different fields met in Atlanta, GA to participate in the fifth National Rx
Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit. The Summit is the largest collaboration of
federal, state, and local professionals addressing prescription drug abuse and
heroin use. This year’s Summit was particularly noteworthy, as President Obama
was in attendance to announce new initiatives and to discuss the opioid crisis. The
President emphasized the rise in opioid use and fatalities from opioid abuse.
He also stressed the importance of preventing abuse by treating mental health
problems. Stay tuned for the next National Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin
Summit, which will be held in Atlanta, GA from April 17-20, 2017.
